The wall of text laid out before me seemed somewhatlose to a rant and devoid of logal warlk (let alone mage) thought presses. To get bk to the OP a mage will shine in AOE grinding. In quk (but worrisome) levels and in dent, albeit, highly skillgear fused pvp. A warlk will shine in being mh easier to pk up. After you get your voidwalker and fear…people tend to get aomplex : P Deeps will be very high. Lks have a ne versatility where, unlike mages, all talent trees won’t look the same in the end. I love both my lk and my mage. Iame bk to the game after a long absee and you know what the first thing I wanted to pk up was? That is where a mage will shine IMHO
In early raids like kara and magtheridon, warlks provide solidC, mageC is inexistent in there. In normal instaes, I think sheep has the upper hand. Butome on, who tually still does 5 mans after kara started dropping badges? In raids, warlks and mages are all about straight forward dps. Mages put less strain on healers bause of mana gems andan e blk when they get in trouble. Warlksan life tap their mana bk, whh means that theyan go on until healer mana runs out. Warlks probably do more dps, or at least have more synergy with the rest of the raid then mages. Improved Shadowbolt debuff is a huge dps boost for shadow priests, and the imp provides an important tank buff. Magesan do the int buff and make mana biuits, IE: no reason to bring more then one mage. In reality, mage and warlk DPS is more or less equal, but due to the extra utility on warlks, I tend to prefer them over mages in my raids (though sheep is needed a lot in S from what I heard, we’re starting it this week). In pvp, warlks are a lot easier to play then mages, sie the important skills are instant, aside from fear. Mages have to sheep a lot, and then try to find time toast frostbolts. Lks get instantast dotsdebuffs, equalC (unable toC warriors, but I wouldn’t mind trading that for the ability toC druids), and will be doing damage no matter what happens. Mages are able to a lot of burst, and have lots ofooldowns, both defensive and offensive. Warlksan’t really burst as SLSL, but theyan keep going forever and take lower damage. Sounds pretty equal if I put it like this, but the truth is warlks are mh more efftive against a lot oflasses, mages only really have the upper hand against warriors, lks are better against all otherlasses. Warlks are probably more effient to grind with, unless you’d outgear everything as a mage. Right now Ian 2-3 hit kill prettymh everything non-elite, so no trouble there. AoE grinding didn’t get buffed with the quest exp buff, meaning warlks will level faster and moreomfortably. All the damage over time +c makes for dull play in pvp, but I doubt thatompensates for the amount of fun winning arena mahes is. In short: Doesn’t matter mh for pve, sie they’reomparable andompetitive. Warlk for pvp.

wow…ne wall of text. I want to read replies not novels. I have a 70 lk. I pvp alot. I’ve seen lks with no busy pvping do quite well just due to the feardot mhan. Yes skill is going to play a part and I agree with you there but skill is going to play mh less a part than it would in mostlasses. The mostomplatedlass to play? Mage. Just bause you know how to hit your autopilot button faster than most lks doesn’t mean you don’t have an autopilot button.

Water Elemental is a summoned pet on a fairly longool down. Not something I’lloede. , AE, DB and BW are AoEs, not something I’lloede, espially sie 3 of the 4 have dentooldowns and I was spifally asking if he meant AoEs(yeah, Maz is a he, or at least looks like one in his ps). Really, offensively, that leaves Fireblast, e Lae and Frost Nova. Two have aooldown, one is used forontrol, not damage and one isompletely useless as a real damage dealer without spialonditions.

di will get you.. well.. nowhere It’s ment as a support tree (even if it lks support ). If you want to tually do some damage, go for Surge of Light: like this. Then max Spirit Tap (to solo without stopping). Then take meditation. Then Divine Spirit. Then maybe some Foe Of Will, but you are level 70 already when you get that far. Or aim to get Mind Flay also
I’d agree, get some points in Holy before Di. Di is support and really doesn’t offer a lot on its own. For now, I’d suggest a slighthange in the build Pilgrim offered (here Basally max Spirit Tap instead of Improved Shield. After that, I’d suggest Silent Resolve, Inner Fus, Meditation, and eventually work up to something resembling this (whh will require a resp). Good healing, good burst damage, mages love you for PI.
I just respced to DisHoly at 70 and took Surge of Light to help me rep grind but honestly I think it may be broken I don’t ever seem to get the freeinstaast.
Well, keep in mind it only prs off half of yourrits, so if you’re running a 5%rit rate you’ll get one every 40asts ofritapable spells. It’s also bugged last I heard; it’s not free butanrit, potentially giving a string of SoL prs in a row for some insane burst damage.
Intersting lsfreak. I’ll pay a little more attention to that when I’m using it from now on.
With SoL: been using it for some times, and it’s great, even if it’s bugged. The first one you get is free. If itrits and prs itself (this is the bug), then itosts mana, but it’s instant. The longesthain i got was 3. Holy Firerit, Sol, Sol, Sol. That’s 7k damage I’m running with 19%rithae on holy. In instaes, due to the ft that PoHrits often, i get one every PoH i make I’ve done some runs where they already had a healer, so i get there as holy DPS and off healer. It worked great

I know this thread isn’t really for diussing talents, but it is about battlegrounds and there is something I have been wondering whilst browsing the forums andonsidering making a priest. I might way off here, but refltive shield seems like an eellent talent for battlegrounds, but no one ever even gives it a mention, good or bad. What are your opinions on this talent?
Refltive shield will help you kill things a little faster if you are questing solo. It’s just a little extra dps when the priest is in melee range. In BG, if you are in melee range, you are probably going to die.

Refltive shield is really fun to throw on a rogue or pet you are helping. It’s not the most mana effient way to keep them healed however. I liked the talent when I had it, prior to resping for more healing and mana effiey.
After my 70 resp to HolyDis I took my first few trs to the BGs sie my 50s when I was shadow. I threw on my healing set and annoued before the mah started that I’d be healing if peopleould keep me alive. I got a pretty surprising retion when a rogue and hunter ended up basally body guarding me for a good portion of the mah. I died a lot but in the end I did something like 150k in healing where as even the pallies on the team were down around 11k. From my observations I noted a few things. 1. You are way more important in a BG as a healer than a damage dealer. The heals you dish outan make or break an attk. 2. Spirit of Redemption is tually fairly useful in BGs sie you’ll be DPSed very hard by enemy players oe they figure out that you’re healing. 3. You’ll die a lot oe the other team figures out you’re healing.

Yeah, I find thatc thing applies a lot to priests. As to healing in battlegrounds, I only heal in battlegrounds where the other playerslearly know what they are doing. Sadly, being an alliae player I find that more often than not I am not protted enough to do any healing whatsoever. When this is thease I usually just go shadowform and start nuking like mad, usually winding uplose to top on kills and damage. At the end of the day, battlegrounds should be fun. So although I enjoy both the healing and the damage side, if Ian’t get off more than one or two flash heals due to being left to fend for myself then I will not do the other players theourtesy of following them around to heal.
I feel your pain. I’m in the same boat with my priest. I’ve started using the following strategy for AB. Find a rouge or druid that knows what they’re doing and stk with them on defense. They stealth while I bome bait. When attkers show up, I shield while the stealth person moves in behind. Oe they start attking I throw on a SW:Pain and move to the sidelines. If need be I start throwing out shields and heals to keep my stealth person alive. It’s extremely efftive bause everyone always wants to kill a lone priest. Sie I’m diline sp they always get a little surprise when I’m shielded too.
Try to feel my pain.. i’m bashing away ohes at a warrior and his health bar isn’t moving bause you’re healing behind him. All this time a rogue is playing with my spleen with his daggers. You’re not the first to getC`ed. You’re the first that dies. At least that’s how i do it..S the heal and kill you asap. I’ve seen numerous WSG-s won by a healer bause my (amazing) groupouldn’t understand why the warrior didn’t die. Whenever i killed the priest, they failed to get the flag. If they killed me before iould kill the priest they would ALWAYSap. You’re a key part and thus, the first that has to be put out ofombat by whatever means

In the talent dertion it says “after killing a target that gives experiee.” So, sie im a PvP shadow priest, i skped it, sie you don’t get xp from killing players. But I’ve seen in several guides that you should “max spirit tap to get bk mana when spamming MF on people” And if it does, I personally don’t think it would be of mh use in pvp sie it only takes efft when you kill a target. Whh will happen, but maybe not enough to spend 5 points in it. On the other hand, im new to priests so iould be wrong. Thanks for any help

yep, and it prs at 70 even after you’re no longer gaining exp in PvE. I believe the tual wording is “a target that would normally grant exp.”
Yes, spirit tap works in PvP, however, it is often very hard to get the killing blow on that enemy (whh is required for Spirit Tap to tivate). This is espially true when someone is being fus fired. Even in the later levels, when you get the instant Shadow Word: Death it’s still hard to get that killing blow sometimes due to lag, slow fingers, suddenrit from the mage, e. Lkily, spirit tap is a very solid talent for PvE, so it’s definitely a keeper.

Erm basally im easy, i see someone on the road, i might either buff him up or justontinue in my business. The warrior i saw really olded me in generalhat right dirtly i asked to be join the party. I joined the party and a few minutes i was kked =(. Maybe its rare of a rarease, but it does happens. Well i do notonform to the ‘i said it earlier, so this is my wep’ so if really a spelaster in the grp, we roll for it. Im fine. Yea i might be angry down there thinking iould not get the wepequment but im totally fine that heshe take that weaponause its fair and square that heshe won it. Btw how do high level priests deal with jerks who justantonform to the norm. Or keep asking you to do things whh is obviously notorrt. E.g.: i have this hunter(party leader) who keeps whispering me to heal his pet instead of the tank and kked meause i only healed the tank even thou this pet is almost full health(cording to the status bar). Oe the pet died bause he pulled while we are still handling the adds and im trying to keep the tank health up and he started olding me even thou i manage to srife the pet to prevent the we saying how expensive to buy water to rez his pet. He mroed later in the generalhat outside the instae saying that “this *blah* *blah* priest refuses to heal in the instae and next time do not party him”. As for the earlier , imurrently studying 2 languages erm and both of them are just as important so iould say both of the 2 languages iluding english are my primary and my sondary language. My meaning of not healing is those outsidde ths instae, they are like everyone down there farming their own quests and money and everything else. E.g. My dwarven priest was heading to sentinel hill to turn in a quest and saw a warrior fighting a goretusk. I just walked by and did not fort or heal him. A few minutes later, someone is looking for a healer for an instae grp and i replied to him using the generalhat. A few ss later, the warrior spoke in the general and olded me badly and i was kked almost instantly. I was denied like that. I admit i might might not be perft in healing but definitely able to lsat and learn in the lvl 10-20s dungeons. Btw, is it really a must for priest to heal non-party members along the way? maybe to turn in a quest or repair items?
no, it’s not a must. It’s a gift wean give to others. I Fort ppl when passing through low level areas. If i’m in Xroads for some reason, then i’ll buff those that are around, bause i know it’s a good thing to have double health for 30 mins. I also stop and help if i see someone i deep trouble. But that’s just me. I like being good sometimes. I even run groups in R sometimes.

I don’t remember early levels so mh, but priests are REALLY sought after for groups. People will not usually kk you for sh a stupid reason. I usually don’t fort everyone I see on the open road, but I will heal them if they are in trouble. IN an instaegroup, however, you do HAVE to fort everyone and heal them Also, I have pretty mh always played horde but I did make an ally alt oe and the people there didn’t seem too mh worse than the horde side…you just have to know how to pk out tell tale signs of an annoying jerk. Here are three good ones: 1.) Doesn’t even attempt to type properly (that is, says “u”, “wat”, and is just simply too lazy to add one or two more letters to make it easier to read) -Keep in mind not everyone’s first language is english, but laziness is never an euse. If you don’t mind me asking Fatedidentity, is english your first language? 2.) Says ahead of time and repeatedlylaims aertain pie of loot for himherself. For example, “If staff drops I get okay?” You respond, “wean roll for it…” He says, “but I ned that, its all Iame here 4″ 3.) Keeps telling you how to play yourlass If a person has 23 of these qualities (of whh there are many more i justant think of more off the top of my head) then you are better off not grouping with them. If YOU have 23 of these qualities, look at yourself in the mirror andhange something about how you play online games.

Instaes, HolyDi is best, but at higher levels you’re damage will be rather low for solo’ing, where PISoL DiHoly is a good idea. 2an anyone give me a link? At higher levels, both bome mh more important (espially in outland). 3)Priest should ple intellt, spirit or stamina for their priority of stats? While soloing up up about level 50, try and keep your health:mana ratio at about 2:3. If you’ve got 2000 health, have about 3000 mana. That seems to be a good balae. For healing, intellt and spirit. Oe the gear starts appearing, get a balae of +healing, spirit, and mana regen for healing, with whatever stamina and intellt youan. Shadow is +dmg first and foremost, with stamina, intellt, and mana regen falling behind. 4)Whh horde re of priest got the highest amount of mana? Starting stats don’t matter, it will be a matter of a frtion of a spell. 5)Does rial advantages plays a big part of a priest lvlling sp? Undead are the PvP’ers. Endgame PvE probably blood elves. Leveling, really doesn’t make a differee IMO. 6)Does rial spells plays in advantage for levelling? They do, but not a lot. Undead are probably best,annabalize and Devouring Plague, but not enough to warrent pking them over anotherlass. 7)Is Devouring plague, shadowguard, or blood elf’s rial spell ( forgot the name) more useful in pve? The Blood Elf’s if your healing, *possibly* the undead if you’re planning on damaging endgame, though BE are probably better there as well. 8)At later lvls for resp,an anyone link me a good diholy sp talent build? I wish i join horde would be a totally different thing Horde’s not going to be different. Your job in a group is to heal – until you really know yourlass, I would strongly suggest not tohing any damage spells in instaes. Being blamed for not healing goes away as you level provided you learn how to heal as you go, and provided you heal well you’ll be able to throw your weight around in groups (and if the group really sks, youan drop the group and get a new one fairly easily). You should be fine rolling on any gear up until level 50 or so, when damage gear differentiates mh more from healing gear.

You should be able to finish most instaes pre 70. but in outland you should be at least average level for that instae.
